The New York Store Penthouse – Historic Grandeur in Downtown Sheridan
Step into Sheridan’s crown jewel: a 9,000 sq ft residence within the iconic New York Store Building, built in 1907. Once home to the Stevens Fryburger Department Store, the space has been meticulously restored to combine turn-of-the-century craftsmanship with modern luxury.
Ascend the grand staircase to soaring ceilings, stained glass windows, and original woodwork that whisper stories of Sheridan’s past. At the same time, enjoy contemporary comforts: a commercial-inspired kitchen with Sub-Zero fridge and gas cooktop, fast Wi-Fi, and luxury cotton linens.
The penthouse features three spacious bedrooms:
-Primary suite with king bed and dual his-and-hers bathrooms (one with a soaking tub, both with walk-in showers).
-Second bedroom with queen bed and vintage charm.
-Third bedroom with a queen bed and soaring ceilings.
-A Four room called the Fishbowl due to its unique 365 degree windows houses a single bunk bed put together with children in mind. Don’t worry, the fishbowl has blinds on each window for privacy.
Additional highlights include:
-Four main-level bathrooms plus two powder rooms (one with original era tile and a dramatic skylight).
-Massive laundry room.
-Antique desk with a direct view of the historic WYO Theater and Main Street.
-Generous living and dining areas designed for connection, relaxation, and memorable moments.
Location:
-The penthouse is located in the center of Historic Main Street Sheridan, surrounded by the city’s most iconic destinations:
Frackleton’s Restaurant – right next door, offering fine dining and cocktails in an elegant local favorite
King’s Saddlery & King’s Ropes Museum – one block away, a true piece of Wyoming heritage
Le Rêve Salon & Spa – down the street, and proudly recognized as a recent James Beard nominee, adding to Sheridan’s growing culinary and hospitality acclaim
The Mint Bar – one block north, an Old West icon of local music and cowboy lore
Kendrick Park – just a five-minute stroll for picnics, creekside trails, and summer concerts
Sheridan County Fairgrounds – less than a mile away, home to the world-famous WYO Rodeo Week events
From this central location, guests can explore Sheridan’s best dining, shopping, and culture entirely on foot—or simply take in the energy of Main Street from the penthouse windows.

My name is Tyler, and I've proudly called Sheridan home for the past 17 years. I began my career in the railroad industry and later transitioned into hospitality and small business ownership. For the past five years, I've hosted guests across four well-maintained short-term rental units, combining thoughtful design with genuine, local hospitality. Along side my wife, I also co-own Real Deals on Home Decor & Boutique in downtown Sheridan, where we help bring style and character into local homes. We share our lives with three dogs- Bailey, Olive, and Hattie B-who keep things lively. Hosting is more than a business for me-it's a way to share what makes Sheridan special with visitors from near and far.
